#MAC MINI EMULATOR REDDIT MODS#Running it with about 30 mods (compute & graphical), and not one issue at 4k w/ all settings maxed. I didn't play to end game so not sure if there is any slowdown there, but it was responsive throughout.Ĭrusader Kings III - Another Paradox spreadsheet simulator but with much richer 3d graphics than Stellaris. I ran it with about 60 mods running (some compute heavy and some graphical). Stellaris - Paradox game that is pretty compute intensive and graphical space battles. Load times went to <5 seconds compared to my late 2013 iMac and in many cases <1 sec. For those who haven't played it's 3d top down game, with really rich animated details and lots of SFX when you have multiple toons firing off spells and skills. Dropping resolution to 2K hit a steady unwavering 60fps. Running at 4k w/ all settings maxed, with lots of sprites on screen at once all kicking off SFX took me down to 20-30fps. Pathfinder:Kingmaker - This is a unity 3d game. Fans ran frequently on this old beast and no game could be run at max res & max settings.Īcross the board all of the games ran well. Also my monitor is an LG 4k (not the super fancy one).įor reference my old Mac was a late 2013 iMac, that ran with 32G of RAM and a dedicated GPU. My thought process was, a game can stretch the Mini, but why not see what it does when there were a lot of other things happening at once that a typical user might do. Throughout playing with each game any (or all) of the following was happening as well: indexing 1000s of files via DevonThink Multiple online apps running (Steam, Safari, Mail, Photos, Music, etc) Multiple system monitoring apps running (Little Snitch) File Transfers to a NAS (large and small files small and large batches). I also decided to stress the system by not just gaming. I tried a few iOS games, Mac Rosetta and M1 ready. So that was kinda expected, but I sorta hoped for something well. #MAC MINI EMULATOR REDDIT 32 BIT#And it was due to it being a 32 bit game, that failed on my old Mac as well. I threw about a dozen games at my Mini and all but one failed (Endless Legends). Nearly everything ran flawlessly except for 1 game that didn't run. Tl dr: Hot damn this puppy runs like it's coated in butter. #MAC MINI EMULATOR REDDIT PC#I also didn't test any PC games running through emulation. Just me hammering the system to see what happens. Please note this is not an exhaustive, nor scientific, approach. So naturally I put it through some gaming paces to see how well it performed. I picked up a Mac Mini M1 with 16GB of ram. #MAC MINI EMULATOR REDDIT UPDATE#What does the update to macOS Catalina mean for games?Ī short selection of great, free-to-play games that are available on MacĪdditional resources: News, stores and platforms, deals, related subreddits, forumsĮverything you need to know about Apple Arcade ![]() Approved posters can arrange for more daily posts by contacting the moderators.
